Isle of Wight East
2024 should see Parliament finally agree to the splitting of the Isle of Wight into 2 constituencies - West and East (see below). This should be a fantastic opportunity to get double the strength of voices for the island in Westminster - and a fresh approach to island politics!
I know that there is a mixed response to these proposals - with some islanders looking forward to going from being part of the largest to being a voter in one of the smallest constituencies in the UK. Others are more pessimistic and are concerned that this will mean TWO CONSERVATIVE MPs!
It doesn’t have to be this way.
It’s important that we do all we can to encourage people to vote - young and old, rich and poor - in 2024. There are grassroots organisations already looking at that - and the East Wight Primary is just one of them. Take a look!
